Design for One.
Design for All.
Stand Up & Voice Up
Hi I am Sharon Wong! I am currently a senior majoring in Human Centered Design and Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington.
I am very interested in inclusive design, UX design, and web technologies (skills developing). I am also into education and advocating for human rights. To me, design is to make the environment more accessible to people. I design to eliminate exclusion, and I hope my design can speak for the needs of someone whose voice has been set aside.
My starting point was a Humanity Hackathon held by Girls in Tech, Taiwan Chapter. In 24 hours, we needed to come up with ideas to tackle the employment issue within certain socially vulnerable groups. This experience allows me to realize how difficult it can be to design for people who have different life experience than me. The limited research time also strengthens the importance of putting enormous effort to cater the users’ pain points.
As a result, I hope that I can be an empathetic designer, who cares about every corner of the world and provides people with design that suits their needs.
